Meet the hearts behind Cheeky Travels
We’re Josh and Jacinta, the duo steering the ship behind Cheeky Travels.
In the tumultuous year of 2020, when COVID-19 confined everyone into lockdown, we had an audacious dream of a yearlong global adventure carrying just two backpacks. While the world seemed distant on the horizon, our curiosity pushed us to explore our own backyard, travelling around Australia from South Australia to Brisbane down to a cheeky trip along the Tasmanian coastline.
The road to passion
The turning point for us came during a 1000 km drive from Adelaide to Sydney, a 15-hour journey through the red dirt roads of the outback that ignited our passion for adventure.
In the confines of our car, we crystallized the dream into a bold plan. The day the world returned to normal, we committed to turning our long-term travel vision into reality.
Nonetheless, our curiosity pushed us to explore, and we were able to get around Australia. We visited South Australia, Brisbane, regional New South Wales, and enjoyed a cheeky road trip along Tasmania’s coast.
Crafting the plan into reality
Fueling our dream required solid planning. Armed with lots of black coffee, a pen, and a piece of paper, we set a plan to save every dollar possible to be ready for the adventure when the world opened its doors again.
Saying goodbye to routine
In 2023, we unshackled ourselves from the comfort of routine and stability, saying farewell to our full-time jobs, a city apartment, and our former lives to fit everything inside two backpacks. With our whole existence confined to two backpacks, we embarked on this yearlong dream into reality, driven by our belief that travel is more about the journey than the destination.
