Travelling is a way of life. It is so much more than just seeing fresh places, partying, and living in the fast lane. It is truly a way to discover your sense of being. Travel can change you for the better. Here we will explore how travel is not just a leisurely pursuit but an adventure that will redefine you way of life.
Travel is a journey of self discovery and in the wise words of St Augustus,
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
St Augustus
Pressing Go: Exiting the comfort zone
When you press go the go button to full-time travel, means ejecting yourself from your comfort zone. Say farewell to the safety net of your home, friends, family, and social circles, your stable job, and open the gate to new experiences. This challenging path can be difficult but so rewarding, and you can discover so much about who you are and what you’re capable of.

Adventuring with a childlike curiosity
Adventuring can help you approach the world with the curiosity of a child learning new things. By participating in different and new cultures’ it reveals life’s diverse way of living. It can be a liberating experience, shaping your perspective as you build a deep appreciation for life and living.
Slow Travel vs Fast Travel
Now this is a concept that we have just coined ourselves, and it’s a bit tongue-in cheek.
There are two types of travellers today. Slow travellers and fast travellers.
Slow travellers seek depth they want to slow down, take a breath, and experience the place and culture of the world in a more meaningful way.
Fast travellers’ goals are to sprint through their experience aiming to cover as much ground as possible in a finite amount of time.

We have done both, but we undoubtedly prefer the slow choice. When you slow down, you can connect to the place and culture and go deeper. Long-term slow travel allows you to learn about a country’s history, way of being, and livelihoods. Taste the food they taste; listen to the music they like; you simply sit back and soak up these moments living like a local.
Fast travel is also a great option for those looking to get a glorious return on their time spent on holiday. However, if you want to truly understand a place, how they live, and why they live the way they do, then our recommendation would be to try slow travel.
Travelling for the body and mind: Beyond siteseeing
Travelling is not just about sightseeing, but about seeing the forest for the trees. Being exposed to new cultures and environments can reshape your perspective on the world. In short, you see the world differently and take off the rose-coloured glasses. As the great martial artist Bruce Lee put wisely:
“Research your own experience. Absorb what is useful. Reject what is useless. Add what is essentially your own.”
Bruce Lee
Being on the road long-term can be a challenging journey and is not for everybody. But this can also be incredibly rewarding. It can help you grow in different ways, and science supports this, as a 2020 study revealed that those who travel may be more positive and happier due to changes in scenery. So, if you are seeking a fresh experience or a new way of living, travel more and do it often. It is an experience that can be life-changing!
Finally, in the words of Paulo Coelho,
“The danger of adventure is worth more than a thousand days of comfort”
Paulo Coelho
For those seeking a life-changing adventure, travel becomes more than just a change in scenery; it is an opportunity to grow and become the best version of you.
